The Workers’ Compensation Act created the Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) as a corporation and grants it authority to administer a system of workplace injury insurance for the workers and employers of the province of Alberta. The organization compensates injured workers for lost income, health care and other costs associated with a work-related injury through an employer funded model.
