Evolve With the Technology.

Digital literacy is recognized as a critical skillset that supports life-long learning and increases employability. The Canadian workforce is experiencing exponential growth in the use of digital platforms, applications, and tools. In this evolving labour market, many job seekers and new employees are required to use technology to research, communicate, and complete job-related tasks.

CASE offers two Digital Literacy certificate training programs, one for instructors and one for job seekers. Both programs are designed to ensure that job seekers have a practical understanding of digital tools for improving both their personal lifestyle and employment prospects.

Digital Literacy Instructor Certificate Program

This online program prepares employment professionals to conduct digital skill assessments. It provides the tools and resources required to support job seekers in increasing their digital knowledge and technical capabilities. The program fosters critical thinking around online safety by exploring strategies to manage an online presence and leverage social media for employment-related purposes.

The Digital Literacy Instructor certificate program allows employment service providers to offer well-rounded instruction and support to job seekers. When an employment professional successfully completes the program, they are eligible to:

  • receive a registration URL and instructor orientation,

  • host a group of students on the CASE learning portal,

  • grade assignments and provide feedback to students,

  • receive evaluation data from their students, and

  • access technical support while teaching.

Digital Literacy Job Seeker Certificate Program

This certificate program helps learners develop important practical skills related to:

  • using a computer,
  • troubleshooting basic computer problems,
  • connecting to the internet,
  • safely navigating the web,
  • performing online banking,
  • designing an online safety plan,
  • creating email communications,
  • developing a social media presence,
  • applying for jobs online,
  • working with the cloud, and
  • developing Microsoft and Google documents.

Upon completion, both instructors and job seekers receive micro-credentials that verify their participation in their respective programs and outline the targeted knowledge, skills, and/or competencies addressed.

The Digital Literacy Certificate Programs were developed in partnership with the University of the Fraser Valley, with additional support from Community Futures South Fraser, Community Futures Ventures, and the Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program of BC.
