Deeper Understanding. Better Solutions.

The solution-focused approach to supported employment invites us to remember that every job seeker holds a core part of the solution to their employment challenges. Through active listening, genuine curiosity, and powerful solution-focused questions, we invite each job seeker to envision their preferred future employment while encouraging them to explore the strengths, resources, and sources of motivation that will enable them to achieve their goals.

This training program fosters a foundational understanding of the solution-focused approach while applying a signature framework of tools and techniques that align with various phases of career development. Through a blend of learning content and practical application, participants learn to effectively align the solution-focused approach with their respective practice.

Upon completion, learners will receive micro-credentials that verify their participation in the program and outline the targeted knowledge, skills, and/or competencies addressed.

The Solution-Focused Career Practitioner certificate program has been created in partnership with a content development committee that included employment specialists from Team Work Cooperative Ltd. and the Employment Solutions Society, Nova Scotia Works.

Program Delivery

This 5-week facilitated online program offers a blend of both asynchronous (independent) and synchronous (scheduled) learning activities. Asynchronous learning activities include reviewing learning modules, posting in discussion forums, and completing weekly assignments. Synchronous activities include participating in three live webinars, open-hour discussions, and partnering with other learners to practice and develop new skills.

The 3 live webinars present additional content. The class size is kept small to facilitate engagement and networking among learners. Both the webinar and the discussion forums offer opportunities for collaboration and feedback from your instructor and cohort (learning group).

If you require an accommodation to participate in this program, please reach out to our National Trainer and Enrollment Coordinator at [email protected] or the Director of Learning and Development at [email protected]
