The more diverse the voices at the table, the broader the scope of the solutions that can be achieved. CASE’s Abilities at Work Advisory Team allows for open discussion and peer consultation for employers who are aligned in their commitment to develop inclusive and diverse workplaces. It acknowledges that a commitment to inclusion isn’t always easy and has no one right answer.

A Safe Space for Employers to Explore Inclusion

Abilities at Work offers a safe space free from recordings, judgement, and overt outside influence that encourages honest expression and professional curiosity. It’s a forum to share ideas and to ask what inclusion looks like, or to explore the barriers and growth experienced by the group’s members.

It serves to ground the group in humility that admits, “We don’t have all the answers, but we can work together to create what solutions could look like.”

Discussions Identify Needs and Inform Resources

Outcomes from the Abilities at Work Advisory Team have included identifying supports, training, and research that could help employers successfully navigate inclusive practice.

The discussions have informed the development of CASE resources to fill knowledge gaps and to identify future development opportunities.

Insight into Canadian Employment Landscape

The value of a national group of service providers and employers is that it provides insight into the beautiful mosaic of the Canadian employment landscape. The Abilities at Work Advisory Team illustrates that, while different employers, industries, and geographically dispersed regions may require unique solutions, they may also share operational roots.

The window into inclusive practice becomes clearer as we refocus, align different industry values and needs, and use that knowledge to develop more globally relevant opportunities and solutions.
