This course offers an introduction to the strengths-based approach to career development. This approach focuses on career development professionals and job seekers working together to identify the job seekers’ skills, talents, and career goals. When applied intentionally, this approach leads to increased successful employment matches and enhanced employment stability, self-esteem, and self-reliance for clients with various lived experiences, including disability.

The Digital Toolkit
This Strengths-Based Digital Toolkit is a companion resource to the Strengths-Based Approach to Career Development Course. It provides key strategies and resources that career development professionals can use in their daily work with clients to maximize successful outcomes.
Our Partners
Both the course and the toolkit are developed by the Canadian Association for Supported Employment (CASE) in partnership with NWT Career Centre and The Howl Experience. This project was funded by CASE’s MentorAbility Canada through the Government of Canada’s Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities. They are complimentary resources to further the work of career development professionals in supporting the obtainment of competitive and meaningful work for job seekers who experience disability and hold various intersecting identities.
Course Delivery
This course is delivered online and can be completed at your convenience in about 2 hours. It offers information, strategies, and downloadable resources. Successful participants receive micro-credentials which can be posted on social media channels like LinkedIn or websites to demonstrate your organization’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
