MentorAbility - Connecting people with their passion!

Did you know?

There are 6. 2 million Canadians with a disability.

AND

They have a lot to offer to Canada's workforce.  They have skills, passion and talents to share.

How can MentorAbility support you?

MentorAbility is a unique way to explore different types of jobs.

MentorAbility promotes success stories.  We use them to promote the employment of people with disabilities in Canada.  Success stories help employers see how to include people with disabilities.  Success stories help society see people with disabilities as full citizens.

What is MentorAbility

MentorAbility Canada helps employers.  Employers learn how to fully include people with disabilities in the workplace.

MentorAbility is a learning experience.  It is not a job.

But it can help you to learn more about jobs that interest you.  You can also learn about possible career paths you could take.

How Does it Work?

The MentorAbility Canada Team will match you (the protégé) with an employer.  The employer will be your mentor.

Each province has a hub. The provincial hub works with local employment service providers.  Together they create the match.

The MentorAbility Experience (also called MA_X) is set up by an employment service provider.  The experience can last from 1 hour to 1 day long. This will depend on works best for the employer and you (the protégé).

During the experience, you will learn more about that employer’s workplace.  You may also learn more about the careers in that workplace.

It doesn’t matter what your level of education is. You can apply to be a protégé.  You can take part in MentorAbility Canada. The only things you need are your passion and your interests!

Your MentorAbility Experience could involve any of the following:

  • You could have a tour of a workplace.

  • You may meet new people.

  • You could find out more information about a possible career path.

  • You could get advice from people with experience in different types of work.

  • You could have someone from Human Resources give you feedback on your resume.

  • You might do some job-shadowing or observing. So you can see what is involved in a job you are interested in.

  • You could learn more about a certain type of business.

  • You could do a practice interview.

  • You can expand your professional network.

  • You can explore the next steps on your career path!

MentorAbility creates an experience made for you.  It matches your passion and interest with local employers.
