It also enables mentees and mentors to ask questions they may not find the right place or time to in their day-to-day interactions. An honest hour of communication or a day of job shadowing in the workplace to share a real, lived cultural experience.
The benefits of the program have been noted across Canada by all participants: Service Providers, Job Seekers, and Organizations alike.
By participating in this program, organizations have found that is has some key outcomes which benefit their workplaces:
Improved knowledge of inclusive practices;
Personal development (coaching, leadership, interviewing, etc.);
Free access to available talent;
Access to a network of service providers who can assist achieving business inclusion goals;
Access to resources to improve inclusive practices, cultural experience and over all team member engagement;
Access to outside perceptions of the business;
Greater community connections;
Insight into current practices and their success points and places for improvement;
Recognition as an employer who genuinely acts to improve their workplace;
While MentorAbility is not an interview, nor a job ask, the program does boast a number of participants who were welcomed by their mentor to become a part of their organization. Where two humans meet on an equal level for a real discussion, the best of both parties come to the surface.
Many success stories can be found on the CASE website which show how real connections make a real difference. Read the stories by clicking here.
Organizations grow their customer or service base most effectively by word of mouth, the same applies to talent pool branding. MentorAbility allows for a free and refreshing way to meet new people who represent the individuals who are seeking employment in your industries.
Even if you are not part of a larger organization and want to make a meaningful contribution to the workforce’s future, sign up to become a mentor. Beyond the personal development you will gain, your view of people and the workforce will be challenged and expanded.
