Adria learned how the products are organized and how to efficiently complete the tasks.
Adria was interested in exploring different types of employment opportunities. WASO’s MentorAbility Partner, Parian Logistics, seemed like a great place to start. Colin, the HR Generalist at Parian, was preparing to offer a tour of their operations to a small group of MentorAbility mentees and invited Adria to join them.
Adria began her mentorship with the other mentees in the e-commerce side of Parian’s warehouse. They were instructed, step-by-step, on how to properly pick and pack orders. Adria learned how the products are organized and how to efficiently complete the tasks. She did a fantastic job of accomplishing all the tasks appointed to her in a timely and precise manner.
After this interesting hands-on experience, Adria and the others toured the remainder of the warehouse as well as the shipping and distribution departments. Colin’s extensive knowledge of the company was invaluable as he explained the inner workings of Parian Logistics to the mentees and answered all their questions.
At the end of the tour, as she reflected on the experience, Adria expressed what a great time they all had. This mentorship experience gave her a better understanding of what it would be like to work in a warehouse setting and the skills that would help her in those positions.
