Let’s Work provides employment counselling to persons experiencing mental health challenges who face barriers to gaining and maintaining employment. It’s a service provided by the Capital Region Mental Health & Addictions Association (CRMHAA) in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Staff at Let’s Work understand that having mental health challenges is not the entire “puzzle of a person.” They know that, with employment support and an openness to building a community of supports and connections, everyone can have a job and a career that enhances their quality of life.

Services for Workforce Ready Workers

The Let’s Work specialized team of employment counsellors works with people who are workforce ready. Together, counsellors and clients identify goals around career decision making, skills enhancement, job searches, and employment maintenance.

Employment counsellors work with their clients to:

  • develop an individualized Employment Action Plan,
  • identify existing skills and those they can enhance or upgrade,
  • craft custom cover letters and resumes together, and
  • provide support and expertise around successfully maintaining their employment.

Employment Maintenance Integral to Thriving

One of the unique aspects of the Let’s Work program is that support does not end once a client becomes employed. Counsellors stay connected with clients during the initial period of employment or longer, depending on the needs.

Clients are guided through the challenges of beginning and maintaining a new job. Counsellors can mediate conflict and challenges when they arise and help to problem-solve with employers and employees for better job retention.

Maintaining employment is sometimes when the hard work begins.

Growing Their Team — with Inclusion in Mind

Let’s Work would like to continue to grow their specialized Employment Counsellor team, allowing them to strengthen workforce capacity and the well-being of the team. As they grow, they strive to be mindful of inclusivity, increasing their cultural competencies and enhancing awareness of well-being in the workplace for both the employees and the employers.

In the broader community, Let’s Work strives to eliminate stigma around mental health and to support increased access and equity in mental health services. They strengthen community partnerships and advocate for systemic changes in metal health and recovery, all while building awareness with the public on pro-active prevention and recovery.
