Description

The Canadian Association for Supported Employment (CASE) is a national member association for the supported employment sector. We work with employment service providers, employers, community allies, and interest-holders toward employment inclusion of persons experiencing disability. We strive to facilitate full participation in the labour force by offering resources, expertise, and support to service providers.

Our organization embraces diversity and believes in opportunities for all. Through workforce participation, we promote full citizenship and social inclusion for all persons residing in Canada who experience disability.

Seeking Directors for CASE Board

Our passionate, diverse, volunteer Governance Board provides support, guidance, and strategic direction to our staff leadership team and helps us to achieve our mission and vision. We are currently seeking supported employment sector professionals, businesspeople engaged in employment of persons experiencing disability, and individuals with relevant lived experience to contribute their expertise, passion, and commitment to the CASE Board of Directors.

To best represent the supported employment sector Canada-wide, we strive for representation on our board from all provinces and territories. At this time, we are in particular need of board members who can represent Saskatchewan, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

  • The CASE Board of Directors act as stewards for the association and work in the best interests of CASE's goals and assets. They operate at a governance level, developing, implementing, and monitoring the policies that allow CASE to carry out its mission.
  • They participate in setting and reviewing strategic priorities for the association and lend their experience and expertise to the board and staff team in their work towards achieving those strategic goals.
  • CASE board members prepare for and attend virtual board meetings bimonthly (every two months), virtual committee meetings also bimonthly, a virtual annual general meeting, and 2-3 days of in-person strategic planning on an annual basis. All travel expenses associated with attending the in-person strategic planning meetings are paid by CASE.
  • Board members are expected to stay up to date and informed about CASE activities and initiatives and to raise awareness about CASE and the importance of inclusive employment within their networks.
  • CASE board members are also encouraged to attend the CASE Annual National Supported Employment Conference. Conference registration is paid for all board members, although costs associated with travel and accommodations for the conference must be paid by the board member or their employer, where appropriate.
