MentorAbility Experience Story: Ryan
Garry and DJ met and discussed what a career in security involves and a course DJ can take to prepare for this role.
At the time of this MentorAbility Experience, Ryan was in high school and was keenly interested in working in the technology industry. He was connected to Other Ocean Interactive, a Newfoundland-based video game developer, and soon met up with Office Manager Sequerra at Other Ocean’s St. John’s location.
Ryan was wowed at the size of Other Ocean’s office and very much enjoyed his mentorship. He relished learning how video games are developed, especially games for the Xbox One system. Ryan said he would very much like to work in video game development one day as it would make for a fun career developing games for multiple systems.
Ryan said the MentorAbility program is invaluable because it allowed him to explore potential careers in tech, and it gave him a better idea of what direction he’d like to take in the future. He also shared that — if he had to explain the MentorAbility program to a friend — he’d say: “The MentorAbility program allows you to explore different careers and opportunities to help you decide what is the most important job that you will enjoy!”
