Southeast Advocates is a non-profit organization in southern Saskatchewan that empowers individuals for successful integration and workforce inclusivity. Through direct assistance, advocacy, and community engagement, they foster thriving inclusive environments.

Diverse Services for Newcomers and Students with Disabilities

Southeast Advocates offers a diverse range of services designed to empower individuals facing barriers and help them achieve their goals. Their employment services include personalized support with resume building, interview preparation, and connecting participants with potential employers.

They also provide specialized programs:

  • The SWIS program supports newcomer youth in schools.
  • A Transitions program assists students with disabilities as they move from high school to post-secondary education or employment.
  • Their Settlement program plays a crucial role in helping newcomers integrate into the community by providing guidance on essential services like health cards, social insurance numbers, housing applications, and job searches.

An Individualized and Inclusive Approach

An individualized and inclusive approach sets Southeast Advocates apart. They believe in meeting participants where they are and tailoring action plans to suit their unique needs and goals. Their team works closely with participants to build their skills, advocate for them with employers, and provide one-on-one support throughout the process.

They emphasize collaboration, compassion, and creating a supportive environment where participants feel valued and empowered to succeed. Their connection to the community and ability to integrate settlement services for newcomers into their employment offerings further strengthen their holistic approach.

A Hub of Empowerment and Opportunity

Staff envision Southeast Advocates as a hub of empowerment and opportunity, for those they serve as well as for the broader community. Internally, theyi aim to expand their programs and strengthen their team, ensuring they remain adaptable and responsive to evolving needs.

Externally, the hope is to deepen their partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and stakeholders, fostering a community that champions inclusivity and opportunity for all. The ultimate goal is to create lasting change by empowering individuals to overcome barriers, achieve self-sufficiency, and contribute to their communities in a way that’s meaningful for them.
