Frank* was finding it difficult to find and maintain employment, so he enrolled in an employment support service where he was able to participate in a food production program which fit his love of cooking.
A referral was also made to us here at MentorAbility, and we matched Frank with mentor Craig at a local brewery. At the brewery, Frank engaged in hands-on tasks such as mixing waste hops, tasting from beer production, and learning the beer production process—mixing barley, checking temperatures, and performing quality control.
Frank was fascinated by how different varieties of beer are created through adjustments in ingredients and temperatures. This experience helped Frank realize he did not want to work in a kitchen or with the public gain and he preferred working b a more discreet, operational role.
