Destin: Building a Path for the Future. Facilitated by WASO. Logos: MentorAbility Canada, the Canadian Association for Supported Employment and the Government of Canada.

Destin said he could easily see himself working within the construction field after having two successful mentorship opportunities.

Destin was interested in exploring different types of employment opportunities when he arrived at MentorAbility, so we successfully placed him with our MentorAbility partner Armack Construction to learn more about the trades industry.

Armack Construction is a growing construction company in Winnipeg with over 18 years of experience in both commercial and residential renovations. Destin was paired with Hershel, the owner/operator of Armack, and he was introduced to many of the trades within the construction sector: from framing to finishing carpentry, electrical to plumbing, as well as some safety and educational training.

After his MentorAbility Experience finished, Destin was lucky enough to participate in the Diversity Works Program by WASO Employment Services that was also happening at Armack Construction to gain further hands-on experience in the industry.

Destin said he could easily see himself working within the construction field after having two successful mentorship opportunities., and he is even considering a two-year carpentry course as a result.

MentorAbility would like to express our gratitude to Armack Construction for a wonderful mentorship, and we are very much looking forward to hearing about all Destin’s future employment victories!
