Arielle said she very much enjoyed getting to meet these local artists and was grateful for all the advice she received as ‘learning new things is always fun.'

Arielle is studying Musical Performance at the University of Calgary and was interested in learning more about working in the Arts and Music industries after she graduated. Due to a vibrant musical scene in Calgary, MentorAbility was able to facilitate three different MentorAbility Experiences for Arielle so she could better prepare her future.

Arielle met with and was mentored by a local theatre performer named Rochelle, the singer/songwriter/producer of Midnite Gossip, Nicky, and with Jaydyn from the Jubilations Dinner Theatre. Arielle said she very much enjoyed getting to meet these local artists and was grateful for all the advice she received as “learning new things is always fun.”

From Rochelle and Nicky, Arielle learned how to better manage her nerves before and during performances. They told her to have fun with every performance and reiterated that every performance was a learning experience in Arielle becoming a better artist. They also encouraged Arielle to continue writing her own songs, developing her voice and working with her voice coach.

Mentor Rochelle said that she “had a great time” mentoring Arielle and that she was happy to help coach an upcoming artist. Rochelle received strong mentorships as a young artist and was more than happy to give back to her community by being a mentor.

Arielle also learned about the variety of jobs available at Jubilations Dinner Theatre and the importance that settings can have on performances, especially how table settings go a long way in giving audience members greater entertainment experiences. Arielle then got to experience being a character server and said that “being able to dress up as a fun character and perform beside guests sounds like a really fun job!” She was also very appreciative of Jaydyn who answers all her musical theatre questions.

Arielle was thankful to experience three great mentorships in her fields of interest and is hopeful to secure a summer job teaching children singing and acting while she continues studies at University of Calgary. She’s also interviewed with Jubilations Dinner Theatre and hopes to work there one day as well.

Fantastic job Arielle! You really took advantage of all that was offered, and we look forward to hearing more about your future successes.
