A Key to Job Seeker Success:
The Solution-Focused Career Practitioner Certificate Program
On a scale of 1 to 5, how satisfied are you with the career support you offer to job seekers?
Maybe you’re thinking “somewhat satisfied, could be better” or “not very satisfied.” You’re reflecting on things that have gone well in the past or emerging challenges that you aren’t quite sure how to navigate.
If so, you’re on the right track! Effective solutions come from reflection. You’re already beginning to use the solution-focused approach to improve your practice.
Career development professionals hold a unique position. You understand the value of professional development more than many people do. You know that clients’ progress in their careers is linked to your own skill development.
In a rapidly evolving labour market, this means that you need to stay current on evidence-based practices to offer effective and tailored career support to job seekers. This is where the solution-focused approach comes in.

What is the Solution-Focused Approach?
The solution-focused approach is a career development technique that encourages job seekers to focus on solutions rather than problems by emphasizing their strengths and resources. It’s built on the idea that every client already holds the key to solving their employment challenges.
This approach is an intentional practice that equips job seekers to navigate challenges and barriers in employment to achieve their career goals. Career practitioners facilitate this approach through specific tools and techniques like active listening and powerful solution-focused questions.
As career development professionals who work with diverse job seekers, it’s valuable for you to learn about and add this approach to your toolkit.
An Advanced Training Program: The Solution-Focused Career Practitioner
CASE’s Solution-Focused Career Practitioner certificate program fosters a foundational understanding of the solution-focused approach. This 5-week facilitated online program offers a unique signature framework of tools and techniques to apply during various phases of career development.
Through a blend of learning content and practical application, you will learn to effectively align the solution-focused approach with your practice. This approach is particularly valuable in supporting job seekers who experience disability and hold other social identities, as they face additional barriers to employment.
Upon completion, learners receive micro-credentials that verify their participation in the program and the knowledge, skills, and competencies addressed.
Ready to level up your practice with the solution-focused approach?
