Jonah: Studio Tour Offers Lots to Think About. Facilitated by WASO. Logos: MentorAbility Canada, the Canadian Association for Supported Employment and the Government of Canada.

Jonah was very attentive to everything they had to say and told them how much his interest in broadcasting has grown thanks to their tour.

Jonah was referred to the MentorAbility program by Heather at Employability Assistance for People with Disabilities, Manitoba. Jonah expressed an interest in broadcasting, and a mentorship at the APTN (Aboriginal Peoples Television Network) seemed like the perfect opportunity for him.

The MentorAbility mentorship was led by Donna and Ken at APTN, who both have a wealth of knowledge about all aspects of the operation. They gave Jonah the full tour, including the broadcasting studio, the control room, the master control, and even their secondary studio. During the experience, the mentors explained the various processes, procedures, equipment, and positions that all play a role in the success of the APTN.

Jonah was very attentive to everything they had to say and told them how much his interest in broadcasting has grown thanks to their tour. He mentioned that this mentorship was very valuable and that it provided him with a lot of information to think about.

After the mentorship, Jonah said that it was an “amazing experience.”  This MentorAbility experience was a genuine match of interests between Jonah, Donna, and Ken. Donna expressed that she and APTN are happy to host more MentorAbility experiences in the future so that they and the mentees can continue to learn reciprocally from one another and to grow, both professionally and personally.

Thank you, Donna, Ken, and APTN, for your heartfelt interest in offering inclusive mentorships in the community. Jonah, we are so excited about what the future has in store for you with your career aspirations!
