Matt gained an understanding of how all the components work together to make radio broadcasts come to life.
How do radio broadcasts work? Who is behind the creation of all those airwaves? Matt has an interest in radio and wanted to learn more about what goes on behind the scenes and all the roles involved.
Marsha, a MentorAbility coordinator, reached out to a local radio station, Q103, and spoke with them about MentorAbility. As it turns out, Stingray Radio, the owner of Moncton’s Q103 and New Country 96.9, was already a national MentorAbility partner, and they were happy to help!
Mary, the station’s Promotions Director, took Matt on a tour of the radio stations, showing him the different departments and introducing him to the team, including New Country 96.9 Morning Show Hosts Scotty & Tony. This visit helped Matt gain an understanding of the various roles and departments’ pieces and components, like marketing, tech, advertising, and music, and how they all work together to make radio broadcasts come to life.
Matt’s Employment Counsellor Jennifer, who accompanied him for the mentorship experience, said that: “Matt enjoyed his tour of the Stingray radio stations here in Moncton. We had the pleasure of meeting Scotty and Tony and experienced the behind-the-scenes operation of a fantastic operation! They have an amazing team which makes everything run so smoothly! Mary Sullivan was a splendid host and showed us each and every aspect of the entire operation! Thanks again for being a part of the MentorAbility program and making it a very memorable event.”
National MentorAbility partners like Stingray Radio offer such welcoming and memorable experiences and have such a positive impact on mentees. Thanks, Stingray!
We wish you all the best as you make waves with your career exploration, Matt!
