Shayla: Empowered Fashion. Facilitated by WASO. Logos: MentorAbility Canada, the Canadian Association for Supported Employment and the Government of Canada.

One of the highlights for Shayla was learning that Kayla’s favorite part of the job is connecting with customers and helping them feel empowered through fashion, something that really resonated with her.

Shayla was interested in the business side of retail, so we matched with her mentor Kayla, the owner of Loka Boutique Clothing and Accessories. This pairing turned out to be a perfect fit, as Kayla generously shared her expertise and experience working in retail. She offered Shayla a behind-the-scenes look at retail operations including employee responsibilities, marketing strategies, and merchandising techniques.

Kayla also gave Shayla valuable insight into her personal career journey, making the experience even more inspiring! One of the highlights for Shayla was learning that Kayla’s favorite part of the job is connecting with customers and helping them feel empowered through fashion, something that really resonated with her.

We’re incredibly grateful to Kayla for being so open, welcoming, and supportive during this MentorAbility Experience. It was an amazing opportunity for Shayla to learn about her future career path in retail.
