What is Supported Employment?

Supported employment is a person-centered approach to assisting individuals who experience disability to prepare for, obtain and maintain integrated competitive paid employment. Job seekers receive individualized help from a supported employment professional to achieve successful employment. The job seeker, support person and employer form a partnership to match the needs of the employer with the skills of the job seeker, and to assist in the job seeker's career enhancement and achievement of long-term career goals.

Executive Director, Joanna Goode, explains in this video what supported employment means.
