Candace was working with March of Dimes Canada to find a job in hospitality, a kitchen environment, or food preparation. Ideally, she was seeking part-time work to balance her responsibilities with her family. She wondered whether she would find a job that could balance both her interests and her schedule.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

March of Dimes had successfully worked with a local restaurant in the past, and this employer was known to be supportive and flexible. Candace\u2019s Employment Consultant Coordinator connected with the restaurant in case they could accommodate a mentorship. As it happened, they were looking for kitchen assistance because some of their student employees were returning to school, and they were happy to offer a MentorAbility experience. A mentorship was arranged to explore whether this opportunity might be a potential fit for Candace.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

During the mentorship at the restaurant, Candace was shown the various responsibilities of the job. She learned to use the industrial dishwasher, organize items, clear dishes, and perform other related tasks. The mentor, Nancy, was highly impressed with Candace\u2019s performance and thought she would be an excellent fit for their team. She subsequently offered her the position, and Candace happily accepted, pleased that this job matched both her interests and her family\u2019s schedule.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Candace has now been working part-time at the restaurant for over a month and the schedule has been perfect for her needs. Best of all, she is enjoying this new work.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
