A local veterinary clinic seeking part-time cleaning assistance connected with Life Directions Employment (LDE). The LDE MentorAbility facilitator had a job seeker in mind, Robin, who is passionate about animal services. The facilitator suggested a MentorAbility experience to help determine whether this job was a good match for Robin. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

On the day of the mentorship, Robin went to the animal clinic where they were greeted by the LDE facilitator. The facilitator introduced them to their mentor, Sam. After a brief discussion about the clinic’s mission, Sam outlined the responsibilities of the part-time cleaning position. Sam explained the importance of cleanliness and of maintaining these standards in the clinic.  <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Following the discussion, Robin shadowed Sam around the clinic to learn about the role and the tasks involved. Robin was able to observe the significant difference that meticulous cleanliness can have on the care of the animals.  <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

By the end of the day, Robin was buzzing with enthusiasm! They felt a growing sense of purpose as they envisioned contributing to such meaningful work. After the mentorship, the clinic made a job offer to Robin, who was happy to accept.  <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Months later, Robin is thriving in the role and has received a wage increase and bonus. The vet clinic frequently checks in on Robin\u2019s progress and provides tailored training based on their feedback. Every suggestion they make is thoughtfully considered, ensuring that Robin not only feels valued but also has plenty of opportunities for personal and professional growth.  <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Together, the vet clinic and Robin have crafted a success story that resonates within the community. Their story showcases the transformative impact of inclusive mentorship and support in shaping a young person’s career path.  <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
