It can be difficult to get started in the beauty industry, and giving others a steppingstone is one of Amanda\u2019s passions. \u201cWhen I started out, I had help with my business plan and funding, but I didn’t really have anyone to bounce ideas off of. So, it was all from trial and error, getting to the point where I’m at now.\u201d<\/p>

Amanda, now a Master Aesthetician and owner of WhipLASH Aesthetics, lives by her company\u2019s motto, \u201cBeauty, Empowerment & Excellence.\u201d She believes in opening her doors to individuals from every walk of life and making everyone feel welcome.<\/p>

When an acquaintance asked Amanda if she would be willing to do a MentorAbility mentorship, she didn\u2019t hesitate. Katrina, the mentee, was interested in the different career possibilities in the beauty industry and wanted more information about them.<\/p>

Amanda gave Katrina a tour of Skin Tribe, a collective health and beauty shop that contains WhipLASH and its multiple beauty services, including tattoo, footcare, and face shops. Katrina was very curious and had many questions for the tattoo artist and the pedicurist, who told Katrina that she could reach out to them anytime and invited her to come back to spend time with them.<\/p>

Amanda also discussed schooling options and illuminated multiple paths to navigating the landscape, such as working on your own or for a local company. From networking strategies to honing specific skills, Amanda shared resources and wisdom, empowering Katrina to forge her own path with confidence and clarity.<\/p>

Katrina was excited to have met Amanda and to have discovered the many facets of the beauty industry. The mentorship encouraged her to continue exploring different career options and helped her to zero in on the parts of esthetics that most appeal to her.<\/p>

For her part, Amanda appreciated Katrina\u2019s enthusiasm and passion for beauty and found the mentorship experience rewarding. Mentoring confirmed the importance of staying open-minded and without prejudice and giving people a chance, even if they don\u2019t have all the required qualifications.<\/p>

Amanda would like more businesses and entrepreneurs to consider mentoring and to invite people to job shadow. \u201cEducation is so expensive,\u201d she said, \u201cand allowing people to follow you for a couple of hours can help them decide if they want to choose that path.\u201d She is ready to participate in more mentorships.<\/p>

Amanda, your passion to empower others and to mentor to break barriers is inspiring!
