Nivek had always loved computers. They spent hours at home building and fixing computers and also <\/span>did<\/span> coding. They were considering turning their hobby into a job, but they <\/span>weren’t<\/span> sure how to do that or where to start. <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
<\/span>Nivek had a mentoring opportunity with Robert, the owner of <\/span>RescueTECH<\/span>, a computer repair shop in Regina, that sparked interest in a new career path. Robert, who has worked with computers for over 20 years, offered to share his wealth of knowledge and passion for tech with Nivek. <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>

<\/span>They chatted for an hour over coffee and tea at a nearby restaurant, then Nivek got a tour of the <\/span>RescueTECH<\/span> shop. <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>

<\/span>At first, Nivek was nervous, but Robert was friendly and easy to talk to. <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>

<\/span>\u201cI was nervous at first, but that went away pretty quick because it was just a relaxed conversation,\u201d said Nivek. <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>

<\/span>They talked about different jobs in technology, like fixing computers and building computer systems, and about the training and key certifications Nivek could take to jumpstart their career. <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>

<\/span>\u201cIt\u2019s hard to articulate everything I got out of it, but I took a whole lot of notes and know a lot more about how to get started with my career,\u201d added Nivek. <\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>
