\u2013 Employment and Disability<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section accounting for 4.3% of the total population and 16.1% of the racialized population. Of those born outside of Canada:<\/p><ul><li>55.3% were born in countries in Africa, and\u00a0<\/li><li>35.6% in the Caribbean and Bermuda.\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-b1ea398\" data-id=\"b1ea398\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5b83a0c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5b83a0c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Black population in Canada identifies with more than 300 ethnic or cultural origins.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-d5c87c7 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"d5c87c7\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-6451f1d\" data-id=\"6451f1d\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dca0bba elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"dca0bba\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In 2017, about 136,600 Black persons experienced disability, accounting for 15.8% of the Black population over 15 years old.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-9721b86\" data-id=\"9721b86\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0da3dc5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0da3dc5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>About one-third (32.4%) of the Black population aged 25 to 64 holds a bachelor&#8217;s degree or higher, which is comparable to the total Canadian working-age population (32.9%).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-51cbdf6 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"51cbdf6\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-86a5c8f\" data-id=\"86a5c8f\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0124b8e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"0124b8e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Employment and Earnings Inequality<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f8be73f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f8be73f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>From October to December 2023, the employment rate of the Black population in Canada aged 25 to 54 (core age) was 78.9%, a decrease from December 2022 (80.6%).<\/p>\n<p><b>Higher Unemployment Rate<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-size: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-size ); font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">Core-aged Black men had a higher unemployment rate (9.2%) than core-aged Black women 7.8%. These rates were significantly higher compared to the core-aged total Canadian population (men 4.8% and women 4.2%).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-size: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-size );\"><b>Lower Median Income<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-size: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-size ); font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">In 2020, the median income of Black individuals with a bachelor&#8217;s degree or higher was $50,000, compared to $70,000 for the non-racialized population.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-28f2bea\" data-id=\"28f2bea\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\" data-settings=\"{&quot;background_background&quot;:&quot;classic&quot;}\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2060187 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2060187\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Black Men (81.4%) and Black Women (76.4%)&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>had lower employment rates than the averages for all Canadian men (87.7%) and women (81.8%).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-bf5fec9 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"bf5fec9\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-793c460\" data-id=\"793c460\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c0ef7da elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c0ef7da\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Canadian-born Black population work in lower-level occupations relative to their education and are less likely to have full time, full year work, compared to the non-racialized third-generation or more population.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-6b2ec63 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"6b2ec63\" data-element_type=\"section\" people who are Black, specifically as a Black woman, is huge. And I don\u2019t see that, much. I\u2019m mainly with white people all the time. And so, it made a difference culturally.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: var( --e-global-color-e3e8097 ); color: var( --e-global-color-primary );\">\u201c<\/span>I didn\u2019t have to explain my Blackness to her [her manager who was also a Black woman]. She understood, so now I could just be myself\u2026 But with her, she actually would say to me, if you\u2019re not doing okay, it\u2019s okay. If you miss a class reschedule, it\u2019s okay. She\u2019s asking me, how do I help you succeed?&nbsp;<\/p><p><span style=\"background-color: var( --e-global-color-e3e8097 ); color: var( --e-global-color-primary );\">\u201c<\/span>No one\u2019s ever asked me that in other workplaces,&nbsp;<span style=\"font-family: Aptos, sans-serif;
