Workers who experience disability, as well as workers who face other barriers, need more flexibility, which may require revising workplace policies. <\/span><\/h5>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-4ec2b83 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"4ec2b83\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-f0829d0\" data-id=\"f0829d0\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-59bae17 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"59bae17\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Time Experienced Differently with Disability <\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-322cc14 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"322cc14\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-66c7d20\" data-id=\"66c7d20\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a74b194 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a74b194\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Crip_(disability_term)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Crip time<\/a> suggests that the average time, energy and resources assigned to a task are based on persons who not limited by physical, mental, cognitive or sensory disability.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-size: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-size ); font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">Oftentimes, a person experiencing disability may require different amounts of time, energy or resources, or additional assistance, to complete a task or activity. An everyday task may result in varying levels of stress, exhaustion, pain or difficulty focusing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-size: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-size ); font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">For instance, a person not living with disability could spend forty minutes at home preparing for work and forty-five minutes travelling to work using transit. A person experiencing disability may need an hour and a half preparing for work, perhaps with assistance from a support worker\u2014and longer if a support worker is not available or is delayed. Then, they may have to wait for paratransit, which can involve long wait times, or they may have to navigate streets and public transit that are not always accessible.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6e6f24a elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"6e6f24a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Duty to Accommodate Challenged by Perceptions of Productivity <\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1caaa4a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1caaa4a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><a href=\"https:\/\/theconversation.com\/reimagining-time-will-help-employers-better-support-workers-with-disabilities-211397\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">An ongoing study<\/a> is exploring how employers\u2019 duty to accommodate is still challenged by traditional perceptions of what it is to be a \u201cproductive worker.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-9013886\" data-id=\"9013886\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3bf7f65 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"3bf7f65\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/dsq-sds.org\/index.php\/dsq\/article\/view\/5824\/4684\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.supportedemployment.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/elementor\/thumbs\/Ellen-Samuels-quote-crip-time-qclpqhn79uxnvzrclok2kz44b50xb9v7afy34cup44.jpg\" title=\"Ellen Samuels quote \u2013 crip time\" alt=\"Image of black man with tablet sitting in wheelchair looking at circular clock that is bent out of shape. They are focusing on the day-to-day experiences with accommodation of persons experiencing disability and their conceptions of time.\u00a0<\/p><p><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-size: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-size ); font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight );\">They found that workplaces must reconsider how they view productivity.
