data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Lacey was interested in exploring a career in after school programming. After learning about a potential mentorship opportunity from the Vocational Training Centre manager, the MentorAbility New Brunswick team coordinated a meeting between Lacey and Amanda, the director of the local Boys and Girls Club. Amanda provided a tour of the facility and later introduced Lacey to the afterschool program supervisor.<\/p><p>Lacey shadowed the program supervisor, spent time with the children in the program, assisted with organizing activities, and learned about the role of being an after-school care provider. Lacey had an opportunity to speak with the staff about the required certification and training,<\/p><p>Lacey told us that when she arrived, they surprised her with a staff T-shirt to wear. &#8220;That made me so happy! It helped me feel like I was part of the team\u201d, Lacey remarked. \u201cIt was an amazing day!\u201d.<\/p><p>Lacey increased her understanding of what is involved with organizing afterschool programs and supervising children. She left the mentorship interested in working in this field in the future.<\/p><p>Thank-you for sharing your story with us Lacey!
